ROMA Rebrand

ROMA REBRAND

ROMA is a shoe company that sells rain boots, however what makes them special is how they give back to the community. Their mission statement is to give poverty the boot, and for every rain boot they sell a pair is given to a child in need. ROMA also has a sister company ROMA Foundation, where people can donate directly to the cause. Not only is their goal to spread hope and love, they work to educate and eradicate poverty. My goal was to rebrand and redesign their logo to better represent their voice and goal.

PROBLEM

ROMA’s current logo isn’t clear, and their brand identity isn’t cohesive with their mission.

SOLUTION

My solution was to completely rework the brand and design a new logo that would tie in the meaning of ROMA and their mission to give poverty the boot.

ORIGINAL LOGO

This is Roma’s original logo. I didn’t think the handwritten logo fully expressed who ROMA was as a company or how they gave back. As a brand it felt detached from who their customers where, how they were giving back, and what they wanted to achieve.

PROCESS LOGOS & INSPIRATION

Before deciding on a final logo I explored many different styles and colors. Above are a few of my process logos that helped me narrow down my favorite typography choices. A lot of my inspiration came from the watercolor map, which is a visual ROMA created to show all the people affected by poverty around the world. I thought this was a great starting point for reconfiguring and rethinking their brand.

NEW LOGO REDESIGN

When designing the new logo I wanted to make sure I truly understood the main message of ROMA, but I also wanted to tie in the beautiful watercolor map that they use throughout their website. Another aspect I wanted to add was how ROMA means love; on their website they talk about what ROMA means, however it is not fully expressed throughout their brand. To make a more cohesive logo I decided to take a snippet of the watercolor map and utilize it in a graphic element for my logo. I thought adding a visual element would make the brand feel more playful, but also market to all ages. The blue watercolor heart represents the meaning and mission of ROMA, which is to spread love and give poverty the boot one rain boot at a time.

BILLBOARD

When designing the billboard I wanted Roma’s message to be loud and clear. I used a photo of one of the many children they have helped. I think showing the customer why they should buy the rain boots by showing them who they are helping is successful and important.

TAGS

I wanted the tags to remind the customer that their purchase at Roma helps a child in need; that they not only just bought a cute pair of rain boots but they are contributing to help end poverty.
