Spotify Mental Health Booklet

I designed a Spotify manager mental health booklet for World Mental Health Day in October 2019. I was tasked with organizing guidelines and text in a way that wouldn’t take away the severity of the topic, or overload the reader with information.

PROBLEM

Managers need an overview of the resources they can use and the people they can contact for when they are helping a colleague with their mental health.

SOLUTION

A booklet for World Mental Health day that outlines how managers can help a colleague with their mental health.

EXPLORATIONS & SKETCHES

I started with two color palettes that I would later narrow down. The blue palette gave the book a gloomy, sad vibe that we didn’t want the reader to feel. The pink color palette gave a sense of serenity and hope that matched the conversation within the booklet more.

FINAL SPREADS

DESIGN & CONTENT

This booklet is aimed to inform managers how they can help colleagues who are struggling with their mental health by providing them with resources and steps. I wanted the typography and color palette to be warm and calming, to help offset all the text and information.

CHALLENGES

A big challenge throughout this project was picking photos for the booklet that would help spread out information but also express the topic of mental health. I tried many photos ranging from people in the office to people showing intense emotion, but both photo themes made the book feel cheesy or filled with unrealistic stock photos. I soon realized that although the topic of the book was heavy, the photos needed to express how we wanted managers to feel when helping a colleague with mental health, which is calm and prepared.
